5 Tips To Keep Makeup on Longer

withSimplicity natural makeup - foundation, mascara, blush, bronzer

As the weather starts to get warmer, we start to worry about how to keep our makeup on longer while combating oily skin, sweat, and sometimes unbearable heat.

Luckily, there are a few simple things you can do that only take a few minutes to prevent your makeup from sliding around or transferring to clothes throughout the day.

1. Start with a Good Skincare Routine

We always say that your makeup is only as good as your skincare. In addition to your daily cleansing, toning, and moisturizing, make sure to exfoliate 1-2 times a week, especially if you have dry, flakey skin.

Makeup naturally wants to cling to dry spots, so make sure your skin is smooth + soft.Be careful not to over-exfoliate. If this happens, your skin will fight back and actually produce an excess of oil. As you may already know, skin that is too oily does not hold onto makeup well.

2. Wait Before Applying your Foundation

After moisturizing, wait at least 3-5 minutes before applying foundation (liquid or powder). This gives the product time to settle and absorb into the skin. If you were to go in with foundation right away, it would cling to any wet spots and not sit nicely on top of the skin.

The same goes for a primer. Make sure to wait a bit before applying foundation so that the primer has time to work its magic and smooth out any imperfections.

3. Invest in a Primer and Setting Powder

Think of primer for your face the same way you would primer for paint. Not only does it smooth out and fill in any fine lines; it acts as a glue for your makeup.

Our Pore Minimizing Face Primer contains an ingredient called glycerin that acts as a natural adhesive between your face and your makeup. Glycerin also attracts moisture to the skin, leaving it soft and supple. It locks in moisture and keeps out harmful chemicals and environmental toxins.

Now if you use a Liquid Foundation or a Cream Concealer, we highly recommend you use a Translucent Setting Powder. This helps to keep liquid products in place and creates a smooth surface for applying other powder products such as bronzers, blushes, and highlighters.

4. Use an Oil-Free Foundation

Simply put, the less oil on your face, the less likely your makeup is to slide or transfer. Fortunately, our Liquid Foundation is aloe-based, so no need to worry!

5. Keep your Hands Off Your Face

We know, it's hard, and it's a subconscious action. Just do the best you can to avoid touching your face throughout the day to prevent excess oils, dirts, and bacteria from getting on your skin... and to keep your makeup on longer!
